Project Overview
This project was awarded to Schouten Environmental as the
prime subtrade for the back to base and hazardous remediation
of this 9 story structure.
Project Scope:
Schouten was awarded the abatement and various selective demolition
throughout the entire 9 story building. Hazardous Abatement using Type 3
measures to safely remove existing fire-spray in ceiling cavities present on
structural members. Removal of asbestos flooring, drywall and plaster finishes
was completed concurrently with firespray removal efforts. Schouten utilized
engineered method to facilitate successful demolition activitieshelp expedite
efficiencies while adhering to safety and compliance expectations
The scope focused on safe, compliant removal: full structural demolition to grade level, debris clearance, and hazardous materials handling per city codes. Pre-work scaffolding and fencing minimized disruption in this high-traffic area. ACO documented historical elements, including layered brickwork and archival photos, digitally preserving the site’s legacy. The project was executed with zero incidents, resolved safety risks, and a cleared site ready for redevelopment!
