Project Overview
Schouten Excavating was tasked with the partial decommissioning
of the old Fibrex plant in Sarnia ON, our role was the complete
management of this project from start to finish, all work was
completed by our own forces.
On top of significant environmental hazards, we were tasked with
working in close proximity to an ongoing business, as well as power
transmission lines and an active CN Rail line. With significant
amounts of designated substances located in an unstable structure,
Schouten was able to fully abate the entire structure with our own
forces, ahead of schedule.
All work passed air clearance and visual inspections on the first
inspection. The structure was an impressive 90’ tall with a 225’
emissions stack that was successfully decommissioned as part of
this project. We were able to complete the job on time and on
budget with no shutdowns and no loss of time.
