Schouten was engaged to support the selective decommissioning and material recovery of the Woodroom Building and its associated exterior debarking system at the BioVeld North industrial site in Espanola, Ontario.
The project involves the careful dismantling, removal and processing of industrial equipment and scrap materials located primarily within the building. Restricted working space, limited equipment access and the need to protect the surrounding structure require a highly controlled approach.
Schouten’s team developed a strategic dismantling plan using a combination of precision torch cutting and mechanical shearing. Equipment and materials are reduced into manageable sections, allowing salvageable metals to be safely accessed, removed and processed while minimizing potential damage to the existing building.
